Three Specialized Plans Adopted
Wrapping up over a year of planning work, Galveston City Council recently adopted the first phase of Specialized Plans. The adoption of these plans is a major milestone in the Progress Galveston initiative, as these plans provide additional policies and guidance to support the Comprehensive Plan, ensure City actions are consistent with federal and state regulations, and help ensure the City is eligible for implementation funding.
The recently adopted plans include:

Parks, Recreation & Open Space Master Plan (adopted by City Council March 22, 2012)

Historic Preservation Plan (adopted by City Council May 10, 2012) & Design Standards for Historic Properties (adopted by Landmark Commission on April 16, 2012)

Erosion Response Plan (adopted by City Council April 12, 2012)
The remaining Specialized Plans will be completed in a second phase that is currently underway. The City anticipates that the Thoroughfare Plan, Disaster Recovery Plan, and Sustainability Plan will be completed by spring 2013.
