Progress Galveston Status Update
Over the past several months, the City has been hard at work on several components of the Progress Galveston planning initiative. Here is a brief overview of the work to date:
Staff is working with the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee to finalize the Plan in preparation for public hearings this fall. Results from the public survey, listening sessions, public workshops, and focus groups will be incorporated into the final Plan.
Three of the six Specialized Plans are currently underway--the Parks, Recreation & Open Space Master Plan, Coastal Management & Erosion Response Plan, and Historic Preservation Plan. The project team is conducting inventories and analysis in preparation of preliminary draft plans. Discussion sessions for each of these plans were held at the July 21st Public Workshop, and feedback from these sessions will be incorporated into the draft plans. Updates on each of these plans will be provided at the next Public Workshop.
Land Development Regulations.
The first phase of proposed amendments to the City’s development regulations is scheduled for public hearing in late August/early September. The proposed amendments will be available for public review prior to the public hearings. The second phase of work is beginning and will completed over the next few months.
