On June 28, 2011, the City submitted the existing Dune Protection and Beach Access Regulations to the Texas General Land Office (GLO) pursuant to state requirements for local Erosion Response Plans (ERPs). The GLO reviewed the existing regulations and sent their comments to the City in a letter on August 9, 2011. The GLO determined that the city’s current regulations do not meet the state's standards and do not demonstrate how the regulations will achieve the goal of reducing public expenditures from erosion and storm damage losses.
FInal ERPs must be submitted to the state by December 31, 2011. As the City’s plan is finalized over the next several months, members of the community will have additional opportunities to review material and provide comments.
