Draft Preservation Plan and Design Standards Available for Review

As part of the Progress Galveston project, the City is updating its 2005 Progress Through Preservation plan and Design Standards for Historic Properties prepared in 2004. The revised Preservation Plan expands on goals and objectives in the Comprehensive Plan and will be the guiding document for the City's preservation program. The updated Historic Design Standards are intended to "guide rehabilitation, alteration, expansion, and new construction projects involving individually designated local historic landmarks and properties in designated local historic districts."

The draft plan and design standards are now available for public review and comment and will be discussed at an upcoming public workshop on December 12, 2011.
